Welcome to a two-hour symposium to discuss recent developments and historical perspectives on human rights and environmental politics together with civil society actors and scholars in the Lund University’s Human Rights Profile Area.

This event will focus on recent backlashes against human rights and environmental politics and explore the underlying reasons for it with an emphasis on dialogues between researchers and civil society actors. The event consists of two parts: one set of presentations from invited researchers and one panel discussion with invited civil society actors. The event is funded by the Lund University Human Rights Profile Area. It is a hybrid event and details about the venue is provided below.

10:00 - 10:10	David Harnesk, introduction about human rights and environmental politics. David is an Associate Professor (Docent) in Sustainability Science and researcher at the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies.
10:10 - 10:35	Åsa Össbo on historical perspectives on the current moment Åsa has a PhD in history and is a researcher at Várdduo, Centre for Sámi research, Umeå University.
10:35 - 10:55	Peter Johansson on human rights mobilization at multiple levels. Peter has a PhD in Peace and Development Research and is a senior lecturer at the School of Global Studies, Gothenburg University.
11:00 - 12:00	Panel discussion with Karin Nutti-Pilflykt from the Saami Council (Sámiráđđi), Jenny Nguyen from Civil Rights Defenders, and Ulf Jarnefjord from the European Trade Union Confederation.
