The return of geopolitics and great power rivalry: the evolving great power role of China

Open lecture with Camilla Tenna Nørup Sørensen - Associate professor at the Institute for Strategy and War Studies, Royal Danish Defence College

Starting with brief reflections on what geopolitics and great power rivalry mean and why it is again relevant, the lecture focuses on exploring China's evolving great power role providing a status in relation to the Chinese great power ambitions and how Beijing seeks to realize these. The lecture also focuses on the future perspectives regarding the great power rivalry between the U.S. and China and what the likely implications are for Europe.

 

Camilla T. N. Sørensen, PhD, is an associate professor at the Institute for Strategy and War Studies at the Royal Danish Defence College. Sørensen’s research fields include geopolitics, security studies, and strategy, with a focus on China, East Asia, and the Arctic. She is the author of works on East Asian security; Chinese foreign and security policy; and Arctic politics and security, with a focus on China.
