The course explores the concepts of human rights and democracy promotion from theoretical, ethical and practical perspectives.
The course examines the concrete efforts of international actors, including governments, international governmental and non-governmental organizations and their work with local partners. Focus is placed on Swedish actors such as Sweden's international aid agencies, Swedish political parties and Swedish civil society organizations, all of whom have positioned themselves as global leaders in the field. The language of instruction is English, but examinations can also be done in Swedish.
